General Information about OzTech

OzTech have been in business since 1991. We started by offering custom made hardware and software solutions for BMS at a time when there wasn’t much choice outside the Tier 1 Manufacturers. Since then we’ve grown, and continued to work with some of the same clients that we started with over 30 years ago.

Yes, Tridium Niagara is the preferred head end software that we use on all projects.

OzTech offers BMS service, BMS Projects (greenfield or retrofit), BMS audits and BMS optimisation.

OzTech works in the commercial building, retail, hospitality, industrial, and education sectors.

OzTech have a broad footprint in NSW, with sites in Sydney, Wollongong and Newcastle. We also service several sites in Melbourne, with technicians on the ground that are capable of both service and new projects.

OzTech have incredibly skilled technicians, many of whom have been with the business for over 10 years.

Our open-source capability is both deep and broad, allowing us to work with legacy systems and safely upgrade them over to modern hardware.

We’re able to choose from a range of hardware providers to determine the best solution for your building – other providers offer just one or two hardware solutions and force it to fit your building needs.

BMS Projects

OzTech’s projects team works with a wide variety of buildings in the commercial, retail, education, industrial and healthcare spaces.

Our seasoned team is experienced in both greenfield sites, as well as tricky retrofits or site integrations.

Yes. OzTech are experts in migrating legacy systems over to modern controls. Our depth of experience and ability to work across multiple platforms and architectures gives us the skills required to successfully maintain your existing operations while moving over to new systems with little to no downtime.

A great example of this is our retrofit of Police HQ which we did during 24/7 operation with no downtime on major systems.

Yes.

This is one of our specialties at OzTech. Our ability to work with a range of hardware vendors, and our decades of experience in the industry enable us to integrate complex sites with inconsistent hardware types.

A great example is our 320 Pitt St project where we integrated the low-rise and mid-rise sections of the building into one head end.

BMS projects typically start with a tender package from the client. Upon receiving this tender package, our sales team reads through the requirements and determines the best solution for your needs. As we use a range of open-source hardware vendors, we’re able to choose the best technology for your specific application.

Our team then completes all of the pre-sales engineering to determine the ideal solution for your building, before pricing and submitting a quotation.

If the quotation is accepted, our project engineering team will take the design, and in some cases can optimise it further to pass on more cost savings to you.

The projects team will build a project plan, and work closely with the facilities team to ensure a successful project before handing over to our service team.

BMS Service

Building management systems vary widely in their complexity, size, and age. As a result each building may have different requirements for how frequently it should be serviced.

As a flexible, mid-sized business, we’re able to design a service plan that meets the needs of your building. If you have a large, aging building with lots of devices that are frequently failing, we can build fortnightly service contracts.

Conversely if your building is new, small, and doesn’t have much complexity, we could visit quarterly to meet your budget and stay on top of maintenance.

BMS servicing can cost anywhere between $15-50k depending on the size, complexity, and level of service required for your building.

As a mid-sized business, we’re able to tailor our contracts to your needs, so if you have a specific budget that you need to work to, we can adjust the level of service inclusions to meet your needs.

1. Site Feasibility Check First, we assess your site to confirm whether it’s compatible with our team — including hardware, software, and system access. We only proceed if we know we can add value.

2. In-Depth Technical Audit Next, we send in some of our most experienced BMS technicians — many with over a decade at OzTech — to conduct a thorough audit of your system, from control logic and equipment operation to integration and interface.

3. Actionable Optimisation Plan Finally, we deliver a clear, prioritised list of recommended improvements, each with a forecasted impact on performance, energy savings, or system reliability.

OzTech has two main service contract offerings; comprehensive and preventative.

Comprehensive Service

Our comprehensive service package is priced to cover the replacement cost of most hardware replacements. This gives you peace of mind that you’re covered no matter what.

You will also get access to service technician site visits and 24/7 emergency support.

Preventative Service

Our preventative service package is based on an annual task schedule which is tailored to your building’s needs and budget. Unlike the Comprehensive service, the replacement costs are not built into pricing.

As with comprehensive service, you will get access to service technician site visits and 24/7 emergency support.

No.

Our service contracts are typically based on one year terms. We can price for several years to give you peace of mind and consistency in pricing (adjusted for CPI).

We can also continue on a month-to-month basis as required while you figure out what your building goals are.

No.

We like to make our service contracts reasonable and fair. Before taking on a site we will make an assessment into what equipment is covered without our comprehensive service, and what equipment failures fall outside our coverage. This ensures no big surprises.

We also try to get as much work done within our scheduled service hours as possible – rather than raising a quote every time you ask for us to look into something.

Our service is conducted by some of the most experienced BMS technicians in Australia. With decades of experience and a proven track record in performance improvement, our team is able to drive performance improvements and real results for your building.

Our clients typically see a NABERS rating improvement of 1 star within the first two years of working with us.
